I am drafting a site plan from a deed. The dimensions are in the format of "52.471 feet to a point". I would like to put dimension lines that show decimal feet as the unit, but all I can find are decimal inches. Am I looking right at an option to change this?!

thanks! (I apologize for asking a question I am sure has been answered before. The search function is giving me an error message and not letting me read the answers it shows:()

In the dimstyle, primary units, choose decimal, in the Suffix add a ' .

Go to Dimension Style Manager.

Go to the "Primary Units" tab. Now you're going to want to change the measurement scale.

Change scale factor to 0.08333, and you're good to go!

So if you draw a line measuring 216, and pull a linear dimension, you will get 18.

Jalba- Thanks! I figured it was something like that, but I didn't know that's what "scale factor" meant!

0.08333 is the decimal equivalent of an inch. Anyone familiar with surveying in the U.S. would/should know that.

I keep this taped to my monitor for the random occasion.

.25" = .020833
.5"  = .041667
.75" = .0625
1"  = .083333
2"  = .166667
3"  = .25
4"  = .333333
5"  = .416667
6"  = .5
7"  = .583333
8"  = .666667
9"  = .75
10"  = .833333
11"  = .916667

You only need the scale factor when drawing 1 in AutoCAD = 1 inch and require decimal feet in the dimensions, if you draw 1 in AutoCAD = 1 foot then no scaling necessary.

I'm so glad that we only have metres and millimetres to worry about. :lol:
