Hi mates,

Just thing about this pure geometrical question:

I have one big rectangular and its width is 3.08 meter and its length is 1.60 meter.

Now, how can I "cover up" all this area with those listed above rectangular?

n.2 with length/width 0.85x0.415

n.2 with length/width 0.85x0.445

n.2 with length/width 0.85x0.37

n.4 with length/width 0.70x0.415

n.6 with length/width 0.70x0.435

n.4 with length/width 0.70x0.445

n.4 with length/width 0.70x0.37

In others words you can thing about this question even like:

"how can I divide a rectangular in many smaller ones with autocad"

I hope someone of you will point me in the right way!

Bye,

Stefano.

I started working on a program to do that about 3 years ago... I could lend you my notes!

yes, of course...! :)

I'll be more than thank if you could teach me about your working progress.

What kind of program are you trying to build in?

I mean, it's a kind of AutoCad plug-in or what else...?

OK, I started off in LISP, quickly reached the limits of thet (My program became spagettified) so I moved into VB.Net. I wrote a completly seperate program that would optimise a 2D cutting problem (and had to stop and improve my maths along the way), and then I had my first kid - Blah, Blah, Blah. I'll pick it up again one day ;-)

If you do a search for 2D and 3D Optimization , The Knap sack problem, cutting stock problem, and Guillotine cut glass cuting optimization you should turn something up. Most of the stuff I found was on College and University Disertation sites.

I see your point...

BTW it still looks like too much for my poor brain

Is it possible to try something more "ready to go" from you?

I'll be thank to you about that.

Bye,

Stefano.
