NAILER20 Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 OK first I run Acadmechanical 2010 here's my problem I need to be able to search drawings quickly for two set of text for example "ABC" and "123" I know how to find the first set by running "find/replace" command under the editing tool bar and of course I could find the second set by re-running the same tool over again which seems to be very time consuming and of course slow. My question is there a way to combine under the find command two seperate text strings so that i would need to run FIND/REPLACE only once? I tried two other ideas 1st filter (yes I can go old school when I need to) set fileter up to text value ABC then stack in second filter to 123 run it on ALL-no soap I also used qs (quick select and found it to be no fanster than the run find for ABC then run it again for 123 please help I've got like 300 drawings Im gonna need to check and this sort of stuff drives me NUUUUTS thanks Nailer Quote
ReMark Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 In the example given are you going to actually replace the text strings ABC and 123 with something else? Quote
NAILER20 Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 really I have no plans to replace the text I simply want to locate it and highlight for review purposes also here's another issue that goes along with the situation autocad 2k10 has no provision for strike through text ive monkeyed around with %%U trying to set the variblar to 1/2 the text hight any thoughts So You like the police? Huge fan i hated micheal Jackson for the longest time just becase synchronicity was beaten up so bad by thriller in 1983 Quote
ReMark Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Visit the following website (A'CAD Solutions). http://www.acadsolutions.biz/ The founder is Alan R. Henderson. At the home page look to the left. Find and click on Products. On the Products page click on ACADLSP. ACADLSP is an entire series of lisp routines/shortcuts two of which may meet your needs. Scroll down to the section called Find entities commands and take a look at the descriptions for FTC and GT. Unfortunately all the routines come bundled together. The cost is $50 (U.S.). You'll have to go to the Contacts page and email Alan as I see no way to order and download online. I did find one old R14 lisp routine for zoom-to-text but it was pretty lame. It kind of zoomed to the first use of the text (case sensitive too) and then stopped dead. Avoid at all costs. Quote
NAILER20 Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 Hey thanks I'd like to buy this but alas Boss says no way anythoughts about strike through text find command zoom to is still available in 2010 but has also added feature of alowing you to set up a selection set-nice zoom to highlight I would really like to start Lisp programming for custom commands but everytime I start I get frustrated do you know any really really good books and or tutorials or insight I got a lot of great things on my acad wish list but never get around to making them happen cuase lisp programming is not one of my stronger areas Quote
ReMark Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Use the Search feature above and type in AutoLISP. Several forum members including myself and Lee Mac provided links to any number of good AutoLISP related websites in previously posted threads. Jeez...that's one el cheapo boss you have there. It's $50 for crying out loud not $500! No thoughts on striking text...sorry. Quote
NAILER20 Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 I guess cheapo is not the right word lets just say by the time I initiate an proposal for the money for software and get it approved I'll have already found a work around AHHH the buracracy Quote
ReMark Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I certainly understand. I had a boss that was a bit tight at times with the purse strings. I once shelled out the money from my own pocket to buy some predrawn blocks (front, back and side views) of various types of tanker trucks. Quote
NAILER20 Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 I've paid my own way a couple of times but got burned for it-so never again! when things take longer and budgets get blown thats when I say hey heres a $ 50 app and itll save 500 in labor well lets put it through purchasing wait 3 months meanwhile discuss it with CAD Manager who likes of course to come up with all the good ideas and thinks yours will never work. NOt to mention you cant just keep piling on stuff in autocad envirornment and ever hope to maintian operating standards that makes CAD managers job easier yada yada yada Quote
Eatonpcat Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I certainly understand. I had a boss that was a bit tight at times with the purse strings. I once shelled out the money from my own pocket to buy some predrawn blocks (front, back and side views) of various types of tanker trucks. I shelled out the cash for a SteelPlus software back in the day... Worth every penny, would do it again tomorrow if I needed to. Quote
