BOB'27T Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I'm trying to start using sheet sets in our office. The problem I'm having is that I don't want to send them to the client as dwf's. Is it possible to use sheet set to create dwg layouts? The boss wants to be able to send certain layouts in dwg format. I tried to talk him into using dwf but to no avail! Quote
Attila The Gel Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I've tryed to find a way to publish a multie pdf file but no succes to date! I' convinsed everbody here to use dxf's, so my problems solved. There are convertors that do "DWG to PDF" convertion and some other formats to, maybe someone else here knows more? Quote

Sheet Set's don't "create DWG files" it uses collaborates DWG files with the Sheet Set Manager for greater coordination and control in design & plotting. Quote
BOB'27T Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 Any suggestions for sending just one layout from a drawing in dwg format? Quote
tzframpton Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Any suggestions for sending just one layout from a drawing in dwg format? 1st off, I wouldn't suggest using multiple page DWG files with the Sheet Set Manager. Use one layout per file, and each file is a "sheet". This is one of the main reasons the Sheet Set Manager was created IMHO. But for this time, just Shift+select all the Layouts you don't want, and delete them, leaving the one Layout. Then do a File -> Save As. Then send the file via email. Quote
BOB'27T Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 That's cool. I'll give it a try. This is all new to me, so I'm just looking for a way to streamline our file transfer. Quote

rustysilo Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 You can create a .dwg and layout via the SSM if you want by right-clicking the sheet set (in SSM) > New Sheet > give it a name, number and template to start from. To send just one sheet from your set right-click the sheet you want to send > eTransmit > select the proper transmittal setup (or create a new one) > tell it where to save the zip file. BOOM! All done. Although Styk does have a case here because it will send the entire file of the sheet you chose, including the other layouts in that file. You'll want to familiarize yourself with eTransmit a bit before you send the output file along just so you don't end up sending anything they don't need or you don't want them to have (my boss is a bit picky about sending out our logo). Look at every tab in the eTransmit window. Click help buttons (if they will work). Read. Ask questions. Quote

This is true, I was meaning you can't produce an output of a single DWG file from an already created Sheet Set. Thanks for clearing that up.... Quote
BOB'27T Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 That works perfect! The etransmit worked right the first time. I love it when a plan comes together! Once again, thanks again guys for bailing me out!! Quote

Thanks for clearing that up.... Ah just a misunderstanding. Sorry bout that. That works perfect! The etransmit worked right the first time. I love it when a plan comes together! Once again, thanks again guys for bailing me out!! No problem BOB'27T. We're very much happy to help. As a clarification on output formats, you can pretty much output your sheet sets to any format you wish (ie - dwf, pdf, plt, to printer) by either setting the layout tabs OR by using a page setup override template file, but to send out cad files I'm thinking eTransmit is the big cheese since it automatically packs the dwg files as well as dependent files (ie - xrefs, plot configs, plot styles, fonts, etc.) into a zip file swiftly and painlessly... most of the time. Aaaand you can create your own transmittal setup that includes your standard disclaimers and terms of use. Quote
