Bill Tillman Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I have a machine at home which has run ACAD 2007 for a while and all is well. The machine responds quickly to commands, ACAD opens up in a flash and the video card seems to be of sufficient quality for 3D work. Recently I loaded ACAD 2009 on a very similar machine at my office. I've noticed that ACAD 2009 takes several moments to actually load and open up. Other observations have been that some tasks seem to take forever. And there are the infrequent but still annoying lockups when all it seems I can do is shutdown the computer and restart everything. Is ACAD 2009 that much of a jump in memory useage. I really don't see the advantages of 2009 unless you count the Text Annotation Scaling. Quote
ReMark Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Yes, AutoCAD 2009 does seem to suck up more resources. You are not alone in your observations. Quote

rgarjr Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Yes 09 for some reason to be more slow than 08. I can really see the differance when I'm doing 3d and orbiting(moving) around. 09 does look really cool and advanced but for the speed, 08 and below are faster. Quote
nocturne00 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 It takes a lot more RAM than CAD 2008. the cool look of 2009 comes with a price, especially in 3D with regards to memory usage. its like switching from winSP to Vista. you would need an upgrade But if you have 2009,just use it. it has a lot of features compared to 2008. Who knows what thay'd cook up again for cad2010 if ever. Quote

Thing is like I said it moves painfully slow when orbiting and moving around. For 2d I guess u can't see much difference. I do agree with nocturn though, if you have 09 might as well use it. Quote
