HELP!! How do I change to different drawing units

Forever I have been trying to figure out how to change the display of my drawing units from feet and inches --- to inches only.

Example; if I have my Drawing Units set to Architectural and I either physically dimension something or check the unit properties of a line or run the distance command and read the output on the command text area, the output is always the same if it is over a foot. i.e. if a line is 1'-7" I would like the dimension on the screen or output in the text or in the property box to only read 19".

I know this is not a major problem but I have a client that wants all his furniture plans to read only in inches and it can get time consuming manually overriding all the dimension text.

I hope that question wasn't too confusing, but I have looked ever where in every version and cant find a way to change this.

BTW I am running AutoCAD 2007

Change your dimension style from architectural to fractional and add a in the suffix field.
