scottkelley80 Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 How do I determine from model space what layers on xrefs are called? When I mouse over the layers that are in the xref, autocad only tells me that the xref is on the "xref" layer i created and put it on. Quote
NBC Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 use XLIST then click on the entity of the xref whose layer you wish to determine Quote
Dipali Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 use XLIST then click on the entity of the xref whose layer you wish to determine thanks NBC. Never knew this command existed. Untill now i was doing it in a way which looks very foolish now after knowing this command. I use to select, freeze layer tool & click on the object & than use to open text window with F2 to see the layer name & than used to 'undo' the freeze command. Quote
mcguirepm Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 is there a similar command in ACAD 2008? Quote
mcguirepm Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I tried that and I get "Unknown command" error. Quote
lpseifert Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 XLIST is an Express tool. Don't you have the Express tools loaded? LT maybe? Quote
rkent Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 It is part of Express Tools so make sure that is loaded on you machine. Do you have the Express pull down on your menu bar? Quote
jtb503 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 does anyone know why it limits the length of text it shows for the layer name? My xref's have long names so i cant even see the layer name due to the long file name of the xref Quote

My xref's have long names so i cant even see the layer name due to the long file name of the xref That's the reason I use the attached lisp. Most of the xref's I have seem to use have long name/layer name combination's so they don't show up using xlist. The lisp show's the layer in the command line. IDLAY.lsp Quote
