SEANT Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 With regard to Tracking (Object Snap Tracking) and non-coplanar 3D snap points, I’ve never had much luck in any view other than plan to the UCS. Is there some obscure system variable that needs to be set to allow a tracked point selection consistent with the point retuned while in Plan view? I suppose it would not be surprising if that type of setting were not available; 3D work and Object Snap Tracking are both somewhat “fringe” activities, those combined is a rarified pairing indeed. It is something that I’d benefit from (and perhaps other users as well) and was tempted to devote a C# effort to make the process a bit more user friendly. That is, of course, if I’m not missing a critical core setting somewhere. Quote
SEANT Posted August 25, 2009 Author Posted August 25, 2009 An OSNAPZ = 1 setting will allow some ability to use Object Snap Tracking from a non-Orthagonal view. Visually, it can be quite confusing, however. And, it would likely require secondary operations that make the process as time consuming as coordinate filters and/or construction geometry. This area of AutoCAD's 3d manipulation could use more attention. Quote
