Appearance in taskbar issue (independent of SDI / TASKBAR)

From few days I experiment an issue with one station running AutoCAD 2008 LT – each drawing called from Windows Explorer is open in his own instance; that it, a separate window and taskbar item. Have already checked that the system variables SDI and TASKBAR are set properly (both are 0).

Is there something else that can cause that?

Thank you.

You'll have to try editting the Properties of your AutoCAD 2008 LT shortcut. This process has been outlined before (just recently as a matter of fact).

Thank you for your answer.

Even if searched for previous posts in forum, was able to found only cases that (at lest seems) to be solved by SDI and/or TASKBAR.

Unfortunately didn’t found the post you are talking about (probably don’t used the right keywords… yet) – but my issue is with drawings that are call from Windows Explorer, so don’t see the connection with AutoCAD’s shortcut on Desktop or StartMenu.

I'm not going to reproduce my previous answer to the same question in its entirety. Let me see if I can find it for you. Hold on. I'll be back. T

Oh, it was about the File Association – will give this a try right now!

Thank you very much!

You're entirely welcomed msasu.

Please take the time to read the second page of the thread. The original poster ran into a slight problem but was able to correct for it with a minor tweak which he does mention. Good luck.

You are right, got quite the same scenario…

First changed as per your advice and this solved the problem; unfortunately have created a new one: for each drawing there is a system window saying “Windows cannot find …” but the drawing was opened.

However after delete the DWG entry in FileAssociationList and create a new one (without the “%1”) parameter the problem was finally solved.

I am glad to hear that you have solved your problem and in the process have learned something new.:) The next time someone posts a similar question we expect you to provide the answer while we sit back and have a cup of coffee. Agreed?

Apart from TASKBAR and SDI there might be another reason. I had the same issue, and the solution was so simple as I was expecting. Go to AutoCAD, in the Options menu go to Display bar and tick "Display file tabs". Hope this helps.

P.S. I am using AutoCAD 2014.

Yes, I thought it might be helpful for someone who have the same issue and is looking for solution in google. The post can still be found in google..right?
