Hatch and Gradient 3D Solid

I want to use Gradient fill to a 3D solid but it won't show up, If I test it to a 2D model it works. So, how do I use gradient fill on a 3D solid?

I am no expert with 3D models, when you want to apply a texture or color to an object then you want to use "Material Apply / Apply Material."

You can't apply hatch patterns to 3D models.

Why do you want a gradient hatch on your model anyway?

Can you post an example of what you're trying to do?

 

 

Ok, that is bad :(. Are more intressted if it could be done rather than doing something special. Sertain things would look better in two colors. And if I had some hatch pattern I could do for example the floors (use brick pattern)

why not do it with materials as stated earlier?

3D objects can be hatched as long as the face in question is flat (See attachment in this thread).

The process is a bit laborious as a UCS has to be set for each face orientation. If the object is indeed a 3dSolid then the area for the Hatch/Gradient has to be added via “Pick Point” (may need multiple picks for any given face).

 

 

 

I’ve investigated some of the steps needed to hatch* a non-planar face but the routine is not ready for production work.

*I say hatch but it is actually a hatch exploded to geometry and mapped to the curved surface.

Ok, technically you can apply hatch patterns to a model, but the hatch will not show up when you render. And, as previously stated, it's a very tedious process because the hatch can only be applied to flat surfaces that lie on the current UCS. I would really recommend using materials. You can create tileable textures in Photoshop that can easily be applied to any surface and will show up in your renders. If you can't afford Photoshop, try Gimp. It's a free Photoshop clone.
