Acad to Solidworks

whould anyone pleaase be able to tell me if it is at all possible to convert a autocad 3d model to a solidworks 3d model?

solidworks dwg editor keeps telling me that the autocad file is corrupt even though ive drawn it several times ?

Are you trying to import the drawing file of the object you have posted in another thread as Shell03.dwg?

Maybe Solidworks wasn't expecting a solid.

i dunno, im kinda new to all this...i'm just rtying to open it up through the DWG Editor, without success.

actually it wont even open them as 2D...i thought it did

You say it is a solid?

If so acisout in AutoCAD and then open that in SWx.

i just wanted to open it up in solidworks so i can save it as an .stl file

Exactly what I said. Use the EXPORT command and choose .stl as the export format.

Does Autocad give you an error? What does it report on the command line?

Hit F2 and copy and paste the contents of the text window here.

I'm assuming that you checked the correct folder where you specified the file to be saved?

i got it working...the problem is that it was not in the positive XYZ plane
