Hello all,

Occasionally, we have trouble in our cad dept. when creating a viewport. Sometimes when we "double-click" on the VP to set the VP scale, the screen turns black and appears switch back to model space, but it has a red outline!?! Usually this doesn't happen and all works fine. In most cases when this DOES happen, we cannot "double-click" inside the VP to activate it either, but typing MS works.

Many of our files come from outside customers, and the majority of the time its a 3rd party file that this happens to. What's going on?!?:?

Thanks

This is normal behavior. Double clicking on the viewport border is the same as typing VPMAX at the command line. To get back to normal, you can either double click on the red outline or type VPMIN at the command line.

Thanks CAD64, that's just another one of those things that I was never taught.

One thing I don't understand, however, is...the reason I normally click on the viewport border is to set the scale. If I use VP max, how do I set the scale? (FYI...I am using Acad Mechanical, and when I double click on the viewport border, in most cases, the command line says "ampoweredit". It is only occasionally that someone in our department gets the VPMAX instead)

Thanks!

If you click on the border, you can set the scale, but if you double click on the border you are going to put yourself into VPMAX mode.

I'm not familiar with "ampoweredit". Is that a command specific to Mechanical?

Gotcha! Single click and set scale in Poperties box. AMPOWEREDIT is specific to Mechanical. Mechanical is great for BOM's (which is why we chose it), but we have much to learn after working in standard Acad for years.

Thanks for your help Cad64!
