Barry Stone Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Hello, I know this is probably a silly question, but I am a novice. I have been drawing architectural drawings on cadLT 2009 and I am coming along pretty nicely. But today I went to start a new drawing. I used the line command and specified my first point and requested a 5' line. When I hit enter, the line goes on forever. I am sure there is a simple solution, but I can't find it. Barry Quote
Barry Stone Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 I don't know what an xline is or how to make it a line. Any help would be appreciated. Quote
JBullseye74 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 maybe your zoomed in to near... zoom out some and measure the length of your line to make sure it is actually 5' Quote
bonehead411 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 An xline is a construction line used for alignment purposes, and to aid the draughter in constructing views. I don't know about your version, but in LT 2005 the two buttons are next to each other on the toolbar. You probably just inadvertantly hit the wrong one, it's easily done. Just delete the xline and draw the proper line in as it should be. Quote
onkelbob Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 if you type in list and select your line its type and length will be listed in the command line Quote
Barry Stone Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 Sorry! Nothing seems to change it. If it helps to understand better, I tried to insert a block which I had made yesterday. It came out so large I couldn't bring it back on to the page. When I draw a line, it displays the coordinates a #'s like 44745'-3 5/16" instead of moving 5'4". Quote
cvanroekel Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 The only thing that comes to mind is you're too close. try typing z, then a to zoom all the wa out. or double clicking your mouse wheel Quote
ReMark Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 First, do as suggested and use the LIST command or right-click on the line and check PROPERTIES. This will tell you the length of the line. Second, do as suggested and either do a ZOOM > ALL or a ZOOM EXTENTS. This should bring the whole line, and the block into focus. Third, if you can see one or both objects, use the MOVE command, pick the left hand side end of the line as the basepoint and when prompted for a second point type 0,0. This should get the line back to more reasonable coordinates. I'm assuming your units have been set to architectural and your input is being done in the correct manner. Quote
