MrErlo Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 i received a file from a surveyor in 2009 file format. when i open the file in C3D 2008 i get an error message, "This drawing was created with a newer version of Civil 3D. All entities created by Civil 3D within the drawing are in a proxy state. Additionally, all commands, settings, and displays of Civil 3D are disabled for this drawing." is there a way to get a TIN from the new file back into an older version? ideally i'd like to get the whole file exported down to 2007, but i really only need the TIN. rustysilo Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Have the surveyor export the tin model to landxml then you can import it, or have the surveyor extract the tin lines from the model so you can build one from those. I'd go with the first option though. Quote
MrErlo Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 Have the surveyor export the tin model to landxml then you can import it I was hoping that would work, but my IT staff told me it wouldn't. I've requested that the surveyor try that for me, I guess I'll see if it works or not. Thanks. Quote
rustysilo Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I'm pretty sure it will unless the landxml export from newer versions writes the data differently as such that it can not be imported in a previous version. Be careful listening to IT (in regards to cadd software) unless they are former cadd people. They don't always know what they're talking about. Quote
