Bind image to drawing

Is it possible to 'merge' an (xref) image to the drawing like you can bind an DWG xref ?

 

so if i put an image (PNG in my case) in my drawing it shows in the xref list, but i don't want any xrefs.

 

Is that possible, perhaps with some special image type?

The only way I know to "bind" an image is to insert it as an OLE object instead of IMAGEATTACH...

Ah yes, that seems to work.

 

On a search on the OLE object i found another topic on cadtutor.net which gave me the tip to move an image into WORD and then drag it into autocad which gives the same effect.
