Jay C Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 I have my sheets set up in viewports, when i plot to pdf on 24x36 all my lines become distorted, sometimes they don't even touch. if i plot to pdf in model space it works fine, but my sheets are already set up in paper and don't feel like changing them. Thanks Quote
helkat Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Hi Jay, I hope you are having some luck with this ; I am also having the same issue with PDF. My plots were coming out fine up until about a week ago when the elevations started showing up distorted. Even when I am plotting straight from DWG I am getting the same distorted results. I’m still working on resolving the issue at the moment (whenever I get the chance to anyway ) so if I do come across something soon I’ll let you know. I’m using AutoCAD 2007; I see that you are using Revit 2009. I have only played a little with Revit so I don’t know all the differences yet but I am guessing the plotting to PDF is pretty much the same . Quote
chelsea1307 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 what are you using to plot to pdf? some are known to have problems with 24x36 dwgs Quote
Jay C Posted May 11, 2009 Author Posted May 11, 2009 I think it may be my new adobe acrobat professional 9. i upgraded recently from 8 to 9, this is the 1st time i've plotted to pdf since then. I was also doing my portfolio in Adobe indesign, and some pieces wouldn't show up in the pdf either, if i plotted to jpeg they were there, but when i ploted to pdf they werent. I have all the updates for acrobat 9 im not sure what the heck is wrong with it. Quote
The Buzzard Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I am using Acrobat 6.0 Standard, But the plotter is setup as Adobe PDF Converter - Windows System Driver - by Autodesk and the driver name is Adobe PDF.pc3. When you click on the Properties button and get the Plotter Configuration Editor you can select Custom Properties, This will bring up Adobe PDF Document Properties dialog. Go to the Layout Tab and you can setup the sheet orientation. There is an Advanced button, When selected you can choose your paper size. I select PostScript Custom Page Size and can enter the units in inches or millimeters. After all settings are made you can apply them to the current plot or save them to a file. Under your plot settings make sure you select PostScript Custom Page Size for your paper size. I beleive you can configure the Adobe PDF.pc3 in the Plotter Manager. After the plot is completed your pdf always looks correct in the proper reading direction vs the regular Adobe PDF driver. I think this would be good for you to look into. Quote
The Buzzard Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Here is a look at the driver information on the 2009 Plot driver for Adobe PDF.pc3 Quote

The Buzzard Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Make sure you have 2009 update 2. Here are the known issues for plot. Plot Update 2 When you plot upside-down, an OLE object does not plot correctly. A drawing that contains hatches and gradients may plot slowly. When plot area is set to View, AutoCAD LT may crash. It may be possible that this can cause your problem. But I am not sure if you already installed update 2. Check it out, Here is the link for 2009 update 2 http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=11899352&linkID=9240618 Besides this problem, There are many more. Could not hurt anyway to take care of this. Good Luck Quote

Jay C Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 i have sp1, all adobe updates and am plotting in the correct orientation, still distorted. I'm doing a clean install on my laptop for other reasons later this week im gonna install acrobat 8 and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the help buzzard Quote
The Buzzard Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Sorry, But it was a good effort. I searched around to see if I could find anything additional on this problem and kept coming up short. I would think that going to an older version of Adobe should do the trick. Good Luck Quote
