grain Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Hi I want to produce a 3D model of a plot of land. Any pointers please. I'm guessing I need to borrow a surveyors things and produce a grid of levels and then plot the coordinates and feed it into some software such as...? What the latest technology for this kind of application? Thanks:wink: Quote
Cad64 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Probalby Civil3D. I have moved your question to the "Civil3D & LDD" section. Quote
rustysilo Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 How detailed do you need it to be? You may be able to find free data online. Here in America we have USGS data available for free. Otherwise it may be better to just hire a surveyor unless you are already experienced. They would use a gps data collector and input points with elevations (levels) then import that data into their software. You could do this with any civil/survey product, however SiteTopo (free) would give you a good start to view and analyze the data as well as give you the ability to export a ground surface for use in another cadd program. Which program you use depends on your budget. Quote
eldon Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I'm guessing I need to borrow a surveyors things and produce a grid of levels and then plot the coordinates As "surveyors things" can cost from £25,000 upwards, even if you hire it from somewhere, are you going to know which end to point at what? If you have not had a few years training in "surveyors things", I should leave that part to the experts. Quote
