yanks_rinks Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 hi guys I made a pipe and generated 12 different configurations of this pipe of different lengths and part number and member name are also different. I want to put these in a assembly drawing in Inventor 2010; butwas not able to do that. It gave me error : iPart member filename exeeds maximum length. My file name is C01561.ipt and part numbers start from C01561-01-11 upto C01561-01-22. Name of members start from C015611. upto C015622. I dont think that my file names are too long. But still cant figure out that why inventor is giving this error:o Any kind of suggestions and help will be really appreciated Regards Gurtej Quote
shift1313 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 have you tried doing a test by creating a copy of your components with smaller names, say 5 characters or less? It doesnt appear that they would be a problem but the error must mean something:) Are your iparts located in your project folder? Quote
JD Mather Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 When place an iPart the name is appended to designate the different configurations. Try with a simple example and see how it works. You will then know what you have to do. Quote
yanks_rinks Posted May 13, 2009 Author Posted May 13, 2009 iPart i made was in a subfolder. I transfered the iPart into the main folder where my assembly drawing was. Since after that I did not recieved the error. May be iPart file has to be in the same folder where assembly drawing has to be! I dont know but my problem was solved with this. Thanks for your feedback. Quote
