hi guys

I made a pipe and generated 12 different configurations of this pipe of different lengths and part number and member name are also different. I want to put these in a assembly drawing in Inventor 2010; butwas not able to do that. It gave me error : iPart member filename exeeds maximum length. My file name is C01561.ipt and part numbers start from C01561-01-11 upto C01561-01-22. Name of members start from C015611. upto C015622.

I dont think that my file names are too long. But still cant figure out that why inventor is giving this error:o

Any kind of suggestions and help will be really appreciated

Regards

have you tried doing a test by creating a copy of your components with smaller names, say 5 characters or less? It doesnt appear that they would be a problem but the error must mean something:)

Are your iparts located in your project folder?

When place an iPart the name is appended to designate the different configurations. Try with a simple example and see how it works. You will then know what you have to do.

iPart i made was in a subfolder. I transfered the iPart into the main folder where my assembly drawing was. Since after that I did not recieved the error.

May be iPart file has to be in the same folder where assembly drawing has to be! I dont know but my problem was solved with this.

Thanks for your feedback.
