ReMark Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Here's something you can try but I won't make any promises. Type REINIT at the command line. The Re-initialization dialog box will appear. Check off the box for PGP File. Then click the OK button. Does that do it for you? Quote
ReMark Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 You can use Windows Explorer to find the acad.pgp file. It should appear in a folder called Support in two different locations. One is buried under Program Files... and the other under Documents and Settings... Quote
LBUG42 Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 No, it gave me message base.dcl "can't find file" Quote
ReMark Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 To Find and Edit the pgp file from within AutoCAD type this at the command line: (startapp "notepad" (findfile "acad.pgp")) Quote

ReMark Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 No acad.pgp file anywhere on your hard drive? Had you been mucking around in your folders prior to the problem popping up? Quote
LBUG42 Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 not really but it is my work computer my laptop i found file is there a way to copy file and put into my work i think someone was useing this computer and may have messed it up. Quote
rkent Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 (findfile "acad.pgp") Use the above, note the path, go into Options, Files, Support file Search path, make sure that path is listed, if not add it back in. Quote
ReMark Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 It's worth a shot. On your laptop, using Windows Explorer, go to Program Files > AutoCAD 2008 > UserDataCache > Support and the acad.pgp file should be there. Copy this to a flash drive or whatever media you normally use. Then go to your work computer and put the copy of the file in the exact same location. Start AutoCAD and see what happens. You may have to run the REINIT command. Quote
ReMark Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 rkent: Just curious. If the path is missing wouldn't the OP have lost access to his acad.lin and acad.pat files as well? Quote

The poster didn't say if there was trouble with those or not, and until they actually tried to load a linetype that is not in the drawing or use a pat file not in the drawing they wouldn't notice a problem. ReMark Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 How did we go from copying the file from your laptop-to-workstation to typing in notepad? What did you not understand? Quote
