netflyer Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I'd like to have both filled and unfilled text on the same drawing. Can I control this using layers? I know the TEXTFILL command sets the text to filled or unfilled when plotting but seems to do it for all text on all layers. Tried setting plot styles using layer colours to set one text layer to plot 'filled' and setting textfill=0 but this hasn't worked so far. Is there a simple way to achieve what I'm trying to do? Thanks for any advice AutoCAD LT 2004 Quote
ReMark Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 The value for TEXTFILL is global and is stored in the system registry. Quote
profcad Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 You may have to use two different fonts, a filled font and an outline font. Quote

Agreed, there are many of the fonts available that have versions that are filled, not filled, bold, italic etc. You might have to pick two different types and set two different text styles in order to acheive what you want. Mind you, someone may know better! Quote
netflyer Posted May 15, 2009 Author Posted May 15, 2009 Thanks all for your comments. I had noticed that the TEXTFILL command is global so would probably override other text attributes applied. I should have mentioned that the normal text is for notations and will be arial or Verdana (filled). The unfilled (outline) text is a custom text (gunplay, filled) which plots fine except that it follows the TEXTFILL attribute. It will plot filled or unfilled but not in isolation from the normal text. Maybe I can set TEXTFILL to '1' and find a way to set the custom text fill colour to white or clear so it just doesn't show on the paper plot. Will try this later, any other suggestions would be appreciated. Quote
