Hi------:)

How can I simply delete one node at the time in a polygon on a dwg-drawing as I tended to pick up too many nodes in the field just to be on the safe side.

I have not been involved in survey and planning work for many many years (since the theodolite, chain and dumpy days although i have used a lazer level when doing a total farm plan) and now find myself the manager, the operative and the dogs body (using a Leica GS20 mapping GPS) of a fairly large community wetlands project on an island in Queensland Australia with my wife being the photographer "par excellence". Now of course the drafting board has gone forever and replaced by this wonderful (but complex) AutoCad.

Could you please translate this? I can't understand what it is that you are trying to do. :?

Hi Eldon,

When I bring in data from a field trip, for example a polygon (an area). This area is made up of coordinate points (nodes) on the circumference I have collected. When I have brought the data into AutoCad and converted the shp-files into dwg-files I then in many cases need to move these nodes (points) or delete some of them. I have not yet worked out a way to delete individual nodes and also moving them is difficult. ---:) montaya

I am afraid you are describing a method of surveying that I am not familiar with. Also I am not familiar with the shp-files into dwg files, not a method I have ever used.

However if you have an entity in AutoCAD, why not just erase it? And as for moving it around, does MOVE not work? Have you tried clicking on something and then using the grip points to manoeuvre it about.

If you could post a small part of your drawing, then it would be easier to give sound advice :)

Hi Eldon,

Thanks for your reply. The instrument I use is a Leica GS20 mapping GPS and I bring in the coordinates of polygons (areas), lines (e.g. trails) and points of interest. It is the polygons that constitute the main data that is brought in. The polygons can have many coordinate points (nodes in the perimeter) making up various shapes. As the project became quite large, the software used with the GS20, develped an issue with moving or deleting nodes (points in the polygon's perimeter). Tried uploading drawing files but the maximum allowed is 250Kb and even an empty dwg-file is 301Kb. Didn't accept shape- or other files I import to AutoCad.

Cheers, montaya :?

Your terminology still baffles me. My type of survey is survey points, and I draw up everything from the site sketches.

Perhaps you should get on the Leica, and pose your problem to them as your package seems to be specific to your type of survey. Sorry to be of little use.

If the empty drawing is 301 KB, then the Leica software is producing all sorts of things that are meant make life easier for you. Such is progress - I like to keep things simple :? When I start, my empty drawing is 31KB.
