MisterJingles Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I received an A0 drawing (plan views of a building) which is at a scale of 1:50 and have been asked to plot it on an A1 at the same scale. Can someone point me in the right direction? Whats the easiest way to do this? Quote
GE13579 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Change Page Setup and borders to A1 and reposition the viewports. I'm assuming, as they've asked for it at the same scale, that it will all fit on to an A1 sheet? Quote
MisterJingles Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 I presume nothing when it comes to this chap Quote
MisterJingles Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 Ok it doesnt fit on an A1 that way. Also, the border contents were designed in model space and the 4 views are all in their own viewports if that helps. This is all surrounded by a polyline. Quote
Tiger Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 If it doesn't fit, then it doesn't fit. I'd say do two A1s. Quote
MisterJingles Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 Really? Is that it? How would I do the titleblock then? Quote
GE13579 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Yep I would check that they're certain for the scale to remain at 1:50 or whether you can change it to something that will fit on A1. Quote
MisterJingles Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 Is there no way to scale everything down to say 1:100 to fit on an A1? Quote
MisterJingles Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 Sorry GE your post came whilst I was posting. So if it must remain at 1:50 then Ill have to use 2 A1s. But if it can change how would I scale everything down to fit exactly on an A1 as perfectly as it does on A0? Quote
GE13579 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Yep you'll need to change any annotation in PS to suit but the viewports are pretty straight forward- just highlight them and change scale in properties... You'll then of course need to reallign them. Quote
GE13579 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I would say keep to 1:100- you will end up with more paper but it's best to keep to standard scales than to modify the scale to fit the paper. Quote
Tiger Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 ofcourse you can change the scale of the viewport - but that is up to the client - what is more important, to get one drawing or to keep the scale. And if they want to keep the scale, be sure to ask how they want the drawing number changed then, if they have a series of numbers for their drawings, or if you just add a 2 at the end or something. Some clients are picky with numbers, some don't care. Quote
MisterJingles Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 Ok thanks guys. They have agreed to reduce everything to 1:100 so I can plot it to A1. Ive changed the viewport scales, arranged them on the A1. But Im having some trouble scaling the text and lines in the titleblock. There are also company logos. How can I reduce all this to 1:100 Quote
Tiger Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 The titleblock was done in model space as well you say? If you want to scale it, the command SCALE shoudl work. Is the logos still as a image, like jPG or something? then you might have to scale that separatly. I have to say though, I think that I would use the same title block for a A0 as for a A1 - if the text is somwhere between 5-7 mm, then I would think that any smaller text would not be readable. From what I have learnt about drawings, A4 and A3 have the same size titleblock and A2,A1 and A0 have the same size titleblock. Quote
MisterJingles Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 Tiger my problem is that the title block takes up the entire right side of the drawing, from top to bottom. So it would have to be shrunk to fit. Thankfully half of it is made up of a viewport so all I did was reduce the scale of that and then modified a few other things to make it fit. Im surprised there is no quick way to do this, I assumed it had something to do with the SCALE command but instead its more of a series of small manual alterations you have to make. Thanks to all Quote
