mecatec Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Does anyone know if there is a system variable that controls the option of selecting objects when using the dxfout function. It would be great if there was as I use the function everyday dozens of times and for every different file I want to export parts for I have to go 'dxfout'...'tools'...'options'...'dxf options' and select the 'select objects' box. It's all long winded when you use it lots. If there is a variable to have the select objects always ticked please someone tell me! I do remember in AutoCAD 2000 once you set it once it stayed set until you closed down AutoCAD fully. Any help will be great! Thanks! note: using AutoCAD LT2008! Quote
dbroada Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 In full 2008 it appears to hold on to the setting - although I haven't restarted AutoCAD yet so that may only be for this session. Quote
mecatec Posted February 25, 2008 Author Posted February 25, 2008 I used to work at a place with full version of 2007, that had the same issue. One other guy refused to upgrade to 2007 because of the problem and stayed rooted to 2000! This isn't a huge problem for me, I've use dxfout so much I could virtually go through the motions to the tick box blindfolded, just trying to save myself a few seconds everytime. It's fine when I have say 10 items to export from the same drawing. I set it once and it holds for each part...until I go to my next drawing. Trouble is generally we draw each part to export on a clean drawing so hence the continuous re-setting of the tick box! Quote
dbroada Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 if you turn the file dialogue box off one of the options is to select objects. It should be possible to incorporate this on a button if you wished. FILEDIA 0 DXFOUT O (for objects - select them) etc.. don't forget to FILEDIA 1 at the end. Quote
fuccaro Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 You can type in the command DXFOUT in the command line. When AutoCAD prompts you to select the objects to export, use the implayed window. This is the shortes way I know. Also you may try the WBLOCK command and enter the DXF extension for the file name. You can even select the objects befor you start the command. Does this help? Quote
