rodbuilder Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I have a block I wish to create. Inside the block I would like txt that will show the Scale of the block is this possible. I think it is but just cant think of how to do it. Quote
Ryder76 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Are you wanting the block to automatically update to the scale that the block was inserted as? A LISP might do it, but I don't think you can get that with just block creation/editing. Quote
rodbuilder Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Yes, if someone inserts the block at a scale of 5 it would be reflected in the text. I can not use a LISP, that would make it to easy (wish I could). Quote
rodbuilder Posted May 20, 2009 Author Posted May 20, 2009 Because the block would get distributed over several drafters. The other drafters would not use the LISP routine. I would love to do it that way though. Quote
dbroada Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 you can use a field to report the scale. Do a search here for fields to find exmples. Quote

Looked in HELP and still can't find applicable info. Do you have the answer? I haven't worked with fields much, just using a date time stamp in the titleblock, so I haven't much experience with them. I am interested in possibly using fields and would like to learn more than I have been able to gleen from the HELP files. Quote
dbroada Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I don't have AutoCAD here so can't experiment and don't have time to look at work tomorrow but when defining your ATTRIBUTE, right click to enter the field dialogue. Look through ALL the options and there is one for object scale. I know it is available as I have used it in formulae in dynamic blocks but I haven't used it to directly report the scale. Quote
Ryder76 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Most excellent dbroada - I will check that out. You ROCK! Quote
dbroada Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 this has to be done within the BEDIT screen. Add your ATTDEF and insert field in the default box. Add field as indicated in the screen shot. DONOT OVERTYPE THE DEFAULT!!!! After you change the scale of the block you will need to regen. Quote
