I've tried everything to make a roof for this little extension to a building im doing.

Heres what it looks like with no roof.

My splines, wedges and extrudes just aint cutting it.

I'm looking for something like this:

s13mg9.jpg

(imagine it streched across the whole area at a height of 3000mm - attachement below)

Since it's an extension to an existing builting there is no room for over hang, I've followed various tutorials already posted and can't seem to crack it.

If anyone can share any other ideas or solutions i'll be allears.

Dave.

Is this what you're looking for??? I normally don't do windows or roofs.

I hope you didn't want that bump out on the backside to be a flat roof. I just kept the same pitch as the main portion of the roof but had to increase the height. I probably have this all asp-backwards don't I?

Yes thats perfect, How did you do it? :)

I can't see a PM function anywhere, is it activated? perhaps I need a higher post count?

Argh! Post counts be consigned to Hades!

I'm embarassed to tell you how I did it because I'm sure I did it in the most convoluted way possible and someone will come along and point out what a dork I really am.

Maybe if I type it up in the smallest of text heights nobody other than you would be interested in reading it.

Oh Dave I wish you hadn't posted your email address for all to see. That's why I suggested a PM. Please edit your post. Now.

For the section that tapers I changed my UCS and created two triangles (using the polyline command). I then used the LOFT command to create the roof section.

For the section that remains relatively constant (length x width) I created one triangle (using the polyline command) and extruded it.

For the portion of the roof in the odd shape at the back right hand corner I created two closed polyline shapes exactly the same, copied one up 3000 and rotated it to match the angle of the main roof. Then I used the LOFT command.

That is my dorky solution. Now I’ll go off to a dark corner and hide for awhile.
