agneza Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 my autoCAD 2008 crashd. and i have sv$ file (autodesk auto save), but when i open.. autocad says to me : '' cannot find specified file.Plese verify that file exist. '' please help Quote
ReMark Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 In the future please start a new thread. Do not tack your question onto the end of someone's thread. Thank you. Please note that SV$ files are automatic timed backups (autosave) of drawings. These files are usually deleted when you exit AutoCAD. That's probably the reason you cannot find the file. Do you have AutoCAD set up to createBAK files? That's what you should be looking for. Quote
agneza Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 yes. but, the time from the last save BAK file don't mach with timer i have set for autosave. i have set every 5min for save. and bak that i have is 1 hour old. btw, thanks for the note; for a new thread : ) Quote
EMS_0525 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 autosave creates the .sv$ files... not the .bak file. the .bak file only gets replaces when you click save. To me thats why autosaves are useless.... and the sv$ files go away when you close autocad.... i just got in the habit of clicking save every 10 mins or so.. so the bak file is up to date. Quote
agneza Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 aha.. ok..thanks .. so..i can forget autosave. Quote
ReMark Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Re: AutoSave and sv$ files from RKM: http://rkmcswain.blogspot.com/2005/07/autosave-mystery.html Note that if you can locate the sv$ file in question it might be salvageable by renaming it. Quote
Tiger Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 I moved your post and associate responses to its own thread, like ReMark said, please start a new thread with each new question. Quote
chelsea1307 Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 If you type options and look in the files it will show you where your autosaves are going. At that point you need to change your file extenstion from sv$ to dwg make sure the sv$ is showing and that your not just renaming and adding dwg (drawing1.dwg.sv$ instead of drawing1.dwg) Quote
