ziemerd Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I have a drawing with text but for some reason I am unable to select the text to edit it. What would make text in modelspace unselectable? Ok...now I'm freaking out. I've tried selecting this text another day and today but no luck. After trying today I decided to post the question here. Then I went back to see what text was selectable and what was not to add to my post and guess what? Yep...I can select the text now. I'm seriously freaked out because I swear I did not do anything to this drawing between trying to select the text and writing this post. Any idea what could've happened so I can avoid it next time? Thanks for the help. Dawn Quote
Commandobill Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 The only thing i can think of is if the text was on defpoints and layer 0 was frozen. In that case anything on defpoints would be un-selectable Quote
Commandobill Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Or perhaps check your 'pickfirst' variable it should be set to 1 Quote
ziemerd Posted June 4, 2009 Author Posted June 4, 2009 I never changed the PICKFIRST command so that can't be it and all text is on Layer 0. I am chalking it up to gremlins. I run into them every once in a while. Quote
Commandobill Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Could be. I mean the guy who sits in the cube next to me, his autocad goes pixelated every once in a while. Quote
JerryG Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 It sounds like your text knew you were coming here and decided to behave! Quote
Grigs Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Try this. I know it might not completely fix your problem or explain it. In model space hit Ctrl+A to select everything. Then hit the delete key and immediately do an undo. You should be able to select the text. I have had this happen to me several times and not sure why. I think I read somewhere that if you do a BURST on a block and have empty attributes, AutoCAD creates some weird zero length entities and messes with things. Quote
ronjonp Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Could be. I mean the guy who sits in the cube next to me, his autocad goes pixelated every once in a while. Strange...I have a computer with AutoCAD 2008 on it that does this all the time (looks like Atari) Quote
Krztoff Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I also did something similar that Grigs recommended, used ctrl+a to select everything in the drawing, moved all the entities a bit since it wasn't a drawing where coordinates played a role. But the fact of what caused this is still a mystery to me, I only know I had multiple drawings open, and then I opened the one that contained the text I couldn't edit. Weird... Quote
mjavy7 Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 this used to hapen to me on AutoCAd 2006. I did a regen all and it cleared the problem every time. Hope this helps. Quote
