kjetilhansen Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Hi. I am woundering how to weld in Autodesk Inventor... When i see the guides the have a "weld" tab in their three... I dont... This is what i have so far, and i would like to veld right after the tube comes out of the chamber... ( And btw, got another question, in my inventor it uses inches... i want millimeters... i found out that if i go to documents and settings in the tool menu, i can change it there, but that only apply for that part... And also, is it possible in inventor to do it like autocad whit the rightclick is "Ok" ?) Thanks again Quote
shift1313 Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 when you first create a new file where you select your .ipt or .iam etc.. there are tabs at the top that let you choose metric, english etc. As for weldments. At the top you should have a Convert menu and thats how you convert it to a weldment. They you will have to define all your welds. Your best bet will be to look through the help file and if there is a specific question about it then post back here. There is too much information to go through it all. Quote
JD Mather Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 You can change the units as you have found ...or start with the correct template as stated ...or open your standard templates and change the units, save and then never worrry about it again. (There was an option when installing to set metric as you standard units.) Quote
kjetilhansen Posted June 10, 2009 Author Posted June 10, 2009 Thanks. I am reading the help files now. It's hard to when a search for "weld" gives you like 20 results hehe Btw, got one more... When i draw a line and press "d" (dimentions) how do i choose what way the line should shrink or grow...? It's annoying when it jumps the wrong way, and i have no clue on how to get it back hehe Quote
shift1313 Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 You need to start your drawings using the Origin point. If you drew a single line and snapped it to the origin point to start it would "grow" away from that point. You have to be careful not to draw too much without constraining things or you will have a mess on your hands. Quote
