rkent Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I would not turn it into an isometric, draw your piping right on the floor plan, add notes, dims, etc,. Everything will look fine in an iso view without having to mess with special text and dims. Turn DUCS on and draw vertical lines in the Z direction with no effort, just like that you are drawing in 3D. Quote
saim Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Using the Z axis, as far as I know, is drawing in 3D (not "just like")... and that would be complicated, for me, to control scale and to fit the drawing in a 2D paper format, not to mention some "cuts" I have to make, in order to let my client know that this pipe is behind that other one. Noob as I am, I would like to have that "magic" available. Edit: Nearly did it! It is the UCS command. Now, I just need to set the values right. Quote
rkent Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I didn't say it was like 3D, I said just like that (meaning instantly) you are drawing in 3D. Semantics aside, the method I like is as follows. Start with your top view of the floor plan, rotate that 45 degrees, NOW make a block of that, change the X scale by a factor of 1.73205 (square root of 3, rounded off). Quote
saim Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Oh, sorry. Bad english. I'm close to remembering how that was done! Check my edit, it is the UCS command. I take the architectural, change to SW isometric and change the ucs. But I'm ending with a grid that does not equal the x/y scales. When this is done, I'll be drawing on the isometric as if it was on the top view. The values I'm using are: point on X-axis: @10 point on xy plane: @10 Since this is not working, perhaps your method would do better. I can't seem to find the command to rotate the view 45°, which one is it? Another question: will I be able to paste the paper over it or that will make my paper also rotate 45°? Quote
