Car5858 Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Every week I have had to repair the installation of the AutoCad programs after the weekly viris scan done with McAfee. Is there a way to prevent McAfee from removing/changing the program files for AutoCad. Problems that I have noticed: North direction reversed. Changing to clockwise rotation corrected until program installation is repaired. Properites dialog box will not appear correctly, shows no slection when a slection is selected, the selection is not recognized. Using the Add/remove programs I select repair. After the repair is complete the programs work correctly. (until the next system scan) Quote
CADMASTER1128 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 There may be a setting of area for the software to check. I would look into those setting. The anti-virus I have put AutoCAD on it's trusted software list so that there is no need to scan its files. (As AutoCAD is monitored by the virus software, and if something tried to get in, it cant) Make sense? Quote

Tried to change the settings also. Thanks Quote
Car5858 Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 How did that go? Didn't identify the file that was being deleated. I will have to run another scan when it happens again. This problem is also affecting the 08 program the same way. I have noticed I have lost the online help link also. Funny thing is no errors are showng up during operation of either Cad programs. If nothing else I will wait till it happens again. Then do a complete reinstall on a different HD. Quote
Car5858 Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 Yes, make sure McAfee registry cleaner is turned off (located under maintain computer section) The problem has not reacured since. Quote
ReMark Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Norton will also affect registry entries as well. Sometimes these AV programs get a bit too aggressive in my opinion. Quote

I have to agree, I am also tempted to remove my workstation from the internet connection and dis-able the virus software. I rarely use the on-line help. Quote
ReMark Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 On my old work computer I used to routinely disable the McAfee antivirus program to circumvent problems encountered with manipulating complex 3D drawings. The IT department wasn't very happy when they found out. Oh well...sucks to be them. Quote
