Commandobill Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I havent worked with autocad 14 in years and I got a question today. In r14 how do you set up your mouse so that right click is enter? In the later versions you just go into 'options' but r14 doesnt have that. Thanks in advance! Quote
eldon Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 In AutoCAD r14, a two button mouse defaults to the right button being Enter. There are no options. Quote
Commandobill Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 Whats wierd is that on this person's machine you right click to repeat the last command but you cant right click to end the command like in 08. I know it's been a while but i thought you could do that in 14 Quote
eldon Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I have just tried drawing a line in r14, and I type l (lower case L) in the command line, then I press the right button to start the command, pick points with the left button, then finish with the right button. To draw another line, I press the right button and the line command starts again. If you press Shift and the right button, you get the Osnap menu. That's the way it comes out of the box and if your right button is not working like that, it must have been got at Quote
Commandobill Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 Ill try a new mouse and see what happens but if anyone knows how to fix it that would be great! Quote
eldon Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 If you can right click to repeat the last command, then the mouse is working correctly. The mouse right click is the return button which is the same as ENTER. You can reprogramme the right button, but you will have to go into the menu files. But if it is already giving you an ENTER, then that is how it should be. Perhaps your fingers have forgotten the sequence of movements (left and right clicks). Quote
Commandobill Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 I highly doubt my fingers have forgotten the motions. I still have been using autocad, just not r14... I know it sounds odd that it will repeat the last command but it cannot be used as enter. but i mean thats an option in r2000 and beyond... Quote
Strix Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 what does it say in the helpfiles for 'right click customisation'? and yes, I've got a copy of R14 kicking about somewhere and remember changing this setting (though don't know off the top of my head how to do it!) Quote
eldon Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I could not find any reference to right click customisation for r14. They must have left it out of my copy. But this I found in the help files, You can choose menu options and tools by clicking them with a mouse. You also can use the mouse to draw or to select objects on the screen. On a two-button mouse, the left button is the pick button, used to specify points on the screen. The right button is the return button. Pressing the return button is equivalent to pressing ENTER. If you hold down SHIFT and click the right mouse button, a cursor menu is displayed. (With a three-button mouse, you open the cursor menu by clicking the middle button.) In some situations, the right button has a special function. For example, you can customize the tools in the toolbar after clicking them with the right mouse button. Quote
