Laney Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I can't seem to retain the colors in the XREF from Microstation. The XREF's need to be plotted "black", because colors are used for the Drawing Sheet. Only 1 XREF comes out as it should, but this is not a building background like the others are. This is driving me crazy after 4 tries. Another issue is, I'm getting "extra" smaller scale borders showing up. I so wish I was more proficient in AutoCAD! Thanks - I love this forum, it's been so helpful! Quote

Within the plot window, on the bottom right of the dialog box there's a ">>" symbol. Click the >> symbol and change the plot style to Monochrome. Hope that helps Quote
Laney Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 Sorry for the confusion. We're testing the translation of drawings from Microstation into AutoCAD. The particular group I'm working on depicts XREF's as "black" and the active sheet file with colors. I save the Microstation drawing as a "dwg" and open up the new AutoCAD drawing. Therefore, the XREFs should be "white" so when you go to Layout1, the XREFs will have the "black" as they should. So if color #253 is picked in Microstation, which is black, why doesn't AutoCAD recognize it and change it to "white", which is black in AutoCAD. I'm just trying to retain how the drawing should look. Thanks Quote

Hope this helps. Copy this into your brower... screencast.com/t/o3kulgcGXqv Quote
Laney Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 OMG - you're a genius! That was a great presentation and I plan to share it with my co-workers. That was very helpful, so I'm going to plan to import a drawing into AutoCAD as opposed to saving to a dwg in Microstation. Thanks so much for your help! Quote
