Gno Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Whats the best way to contraint/setup an acme threadrod and nut. I have them both contrainted together by their center axis, but dont know how to get the actual thread in/out mechanics. I tried turning on the contact sets for the three components to see if i can get the rod to turn through but kept on gettin an error. Can anyone suggest or help me? Any help is greatly appreciated. JD Mather Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Use a Rotation/Translation constraint - not Contact Set. If you can't figure it out zip and attach what you have so far. Quote
Gno Posted June 21, 2009 Author Posted June 21, 2009 thanks that worked out perfect. Took a while to figure out which surface to constraint tho:D. thanks JD. Qick question: The longer i make the threaded rod the more sloppy the threads look. Is that a graphic card problem or is there something else going on with the coil function? i drew the sketch using a acme dimension referance chart. And the start and ending is set to natural. 3ft is on the left, 5ft is on the right Quote
JD Mather Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Assuming you used the same steps it is probably a graphics problem - nothing wrong with the underlying geometry. Not entirely surprising with a coil. But just to be sure can you roll up the EOP, zip the file and attach it here so I can check on my machine? Quote
