MPI-crusher Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I'm having problems dragging and dropping blocks into a drawing. I define a block, wblock it to my blocks folder. I can insert and browse and go to the folder and then insert fine. But if I have a window open and try to drag and drop I get the following errors: I've tried giving the block a new name, and the 2nd window still pops up. When you hit OK on the 2nd window, nothing happens other than the window closing. A related second problem I have is using my company's existing block folder. These can drag and drop in, but it always prompts for scale and rotation unlike my blocks that drop right in after insert/browse. I started my own block folder because so many of the old blocks were done with snaps and are only "close enough" instead of actually, you know, correct. See "w8x18" below for old company block, and "w8x28" for one of my blocks if you need to see the actual drawings. Is the drag and drop insert problem some file setting in my options profile or am I creating or wblocking incorrectly? Why do I have to key in scale and rotation for some blocks but not all? Any help would be appreciated! w8x18.dwg W8X28.dwg Quote
Car5858 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 If you open the pallet's, and dock them on the right hand side. Click on the civil tab and the blocks are there. Copy the block, start a new drawing and past the block in the new drawing. Or you can add the block to the pallet, Copy Block> hover over pallet> right click select paste. The block has been added to the pallet referanced to the drawing that it was created in. Now all you have to do is drag and drop from the pallet. Quote
MPI-crusher Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 Well, the pictures still haven't loaded. In case they don't the first error says "Substitute Block Name: The file you have chosen can not be used as a block name. New Block Name____________ OK CANCEL" and the second one says "AutoCAD Message: "blockname.dwg" Can't find file in search path: " As to palettes, I read a bit about those as I was searching the forums for this topic. We don't use them now and I'm not sure if we will be in the future. I have started playing with them though just to see what all would be involved... Quote

I have found the pallets very usefull, taking the time to learn to use them will in the long run increase your drawing speed. As for your current problem I am fresh out of ideas. Quote
