Text box border auto-resize?

Hi folks, I'm wondering if there's anyway to easily/automatically create a text box with a (rectangular box) line border around it. I would also like this bordered box to resize automatically as I change the text (and therefore the length). Currently, I have to manually draw a rectangle around the text after I have typed it. The purpose is to tag/identify piping on process diagrams.

Here is another routine that draws a box around text. No mention though of a resizing option but it could still prove useful.
