I have just gone to open a drawing, that i was working on yesterday, and it wont open. In trying to open it and pessing yes buttons it shuts AutoCAD down

Programme functions perfectly on other drwaings and new shee, so it would seem to be restricted to this one DWG. Trying to re-generate the BAK drawing has the same effect.

I get the following panel up when trying to open:-

AUTOCAD ERROR ABORTING

INTERNAL ERROR: !saveres.Cpp@437.eGeneralModelingFailure.

Any chance of recover???? or have i lost all that work???

Any help much appreciated, thanks

Hi,

It worked!!!! Very many thanks indeed, I would have lost about five days work down the tubes if dwg. not recovered. I converted it to dxf. Looked at it, and then saved in dwg with another file name.

For your information: When I examined the recovered drawing in dxf, all my work was there, but there were some 'holes' where I had downloaded and pasted some standard bearings, oil seals, and fixings from an international bearing manufacturers CAD support catalogue. The copies first pasted for use on the working drawing area , adjacent to my assembly drawing were also missing in the recovery.

This may suggest that the downloads corrupted the dwg. ???? First time in MANY uses.

Thanks again for your invaluable help.....fantastic!!!!

Your welcome Tony. Although I cannot claim all the credit. I actually came across this bit of advice whilst reading a similar post in the AutoCAD Discussion Groups forum over at AutoDe$k. Are you aware of this resource?

I also had the same message on one of my CAD drawings. I downloaded the Dwg-Dxf Converter. When i tried to use it, converting my dwg file to Dxf a message came up which read

C++ Runtime Library. This program has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way.

Is this problem something you may be familiar with Remark?

Although I am familiar with the term (C++ runtime library) I do not know what is causing the problem with

this particular program. You're running the trial version of the software aren't you?
