MS-S Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I provide contract AutoCAD services for a local civil engineer, and have done so for years. He has 2007 on his computers, as do I, and I usually e-mail files to him, which he simply opens and plots as needed. I have my drawings set up where all he has to do in the Plot window is select his plotter (an HP 430), and then plot. Always works without a hitch. However, I sent him a file yesterday which he says cuts off about an inch along the right side of the drawing, according to both the print preview and actual plot. What could be causing this? Nothing has changed on my end, and I have sent him earlier versions of this same file which he was able to plot with no problems whatsoever. He claims that nothing is different with either his plotter and set up, but I'm not so sure about that - he often has his son assist him with rudimentary CAD work, and he's done some odd things with drawings in the past. Any ideas what would cause such a shift? Thanks for any input..... Quote
ReMark Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Does he plot Display, Extents, Limits or Window? Quote
MS-S Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 Does he plot Display, Extents, Limits or Window? He plots Layout....that's the way I have it set up. Quote
MS-S Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 you tried printing at your end ? I really doubt that anyone on his end installed new drivers, ReMark - they're not that technical over there. And yes, Sparky, it plots perfectly on my machines and plotter. Quote
Ryder76 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 If everything is fine on your end then it has to be the other end. Sounds like the plot settings have been changed. I would suggest getting on the phone with the other end. Have both of you open the drawing and simultaneously go through the plotting together. You may be able to isolate the issue that way. Check every option in the plotting process and make sure all settings are the same for both of you. Good luck and let us know what happens. Quote
MS-S Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 That's prudent advice, Ryder, but actually I've already been through this with them on the phone this morning, and it appears that all the settings match. However, I'm going to head over to their office this afternoon, and take a look for myself. I really appreciate everyone's help..... Quote
ReMark Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Exit AutoCAD and every other program that might be running then shut down the computer. Leave the printer on. Now fire up the computer, load AutoCAD and retry the plot. Keep in mind that what he sees in plot preview is controlled by AutoCAD. What he gets as output is controlled by the plotter. Quote
MS-S Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 Right, ReMark - I will keep this in mind when I visit his office later today. Thanks! Quote
