Gemma Elizabeth Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Hi all, I'm basing my final year project in Oslo, Norway. I need to get hold of an OS map or equivelant info in drawing file. Looking particularly at Bjorvika Harbour, and as much as possible. Can help me out? Thanks. Quote
jfg Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 We had to do this for our final project this year as well. We have an organization that looks after parks and waterfront etc. and they were the ones that were able to provide us with the cad map. I would try an organization like that or even the city hall. Gemma Elizabeth Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 ok. I'm looking at the planning office but not much luck at the moment. Can you give me any names that you previously used? Quote
ReMark Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Would MultiMap do? http://www.multimap.com/maps/#map=59.91379,10.73876|14|4&bd=useful_information&loc=NO:59.91379:10.73876:14|Oslo|Oslo,%200164 Quote
Gemma Elizabeth Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 thanks for that info. But I really need a dwg file. Quote
ReMark Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Ordnance survey maps cannot be downloaded from approved government websites? Quote
Gemma Elizabeth Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 They can, but this can be quite costly. Quote
jfg Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I don't think the names I used would help you since I am near Ottawa, Canada. But maybe if you speak with others in your class. Surely you are not the only one who needs this map. If its really expensive, maybe you can all chip in together or something. Quote
Gemma Elizabeth Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 Ok, Thanks for your help anyway. but this year are personal projects and the closest i get from another student is of northen norway! Quote
ReMark Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 How detailed does the map have to be? Could it be a raster image instead? Quote
Gemma Elizabeth Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 Hey, I need accurate info, levels/ distances....something flexible to work with. Quote
ReMark Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 That's a pretty tall order. And for free too. Good luck. Quote
ReMark Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Two more ideas. One. University of Oslo. There is a GIS Club there. See if you can contact someone there. Maybe they can help you. Two. Google Earth. Isn't there a 3D city model of Oslo? Quote
Gemma Elizabeth Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 cheers. Already got in touch with some people at Oslo uni. Google Earth - can you download parts? Quote
ReMark Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Do you mean parts of the 3D city map? I'm not sure. Quote
Gemma Elizabeth Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 well, i have done a bit of digging...and it seems the 3d buildings in google earth cannot be exported.. probably due to copy rights. and there seems to be no other user 'imports' to download. allthough I did find small samples through SketchUp. However, there was something about exporting it through obj file into rhino... still looking into that... Quote
Gemma Elizabeth Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 Hi all... so I have discoverd pdf to dwg.. still haven't got a decent pdf to use tho... any thoughts?? Quote
ReMark Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Hey Gemma, thanks for the update. Sorry to hear you haven't got the results you were looking for. You have me stumped. Quote
Gemma Elizabeth Posted August 26, 2009 Author Posted August 26, 2009 Hi, I'm hoping to get something once in Oslo...hopfully.. looks like my last option..cheers. Quote
Tiger Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 As a neighbour, and I'm sorry I didn't see this thread sooner, I have to say that what you are asking for is not something that come cheap or for free anywhere that I know of. I order these kind of DWGs as part of my work and while they are mostly very good, it is also quite expensive. Quote
