ziemerd Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I've successfully filletted all the corners of my polyline except the last corner. This corner is where I started and ended the polyline and when I use the Fillet command and click on the lines it gives me this message: Lines belonging to polylines must be consecutive or separated by one segment *Invalid* Can anyone explain what this message means and what I can do to fillet this corner? Thanks. Dawn Quote
ReMark Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Explode the object. Fillet the last corner. Use Pedit to combine all the individual line and arc segments back into one continuous object. Quote
GE13579 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Hmmm shouldn't need exploding- is the PL closed and joined? Try PEDIT- [select PL]- Join, setting fuzz to something >0 Quote
ReMark Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 "...you can join polylines that do not touch if the fuzz distance is set to a value large enough to include the endpoints." I'm guessing the lines do touch. Therefore, would setting the fuzz distance make any difference? Quote
GE13579 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I was thinking they weren't touching, I would go for 20 but it depends on the scale of the drawing as to the value of the fuzz... If they were touching I wouldn't expect a message like the OP posted? Quote
ReMark Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Isn't the fuzz option only available with Pedit > Multiple? Quote
GE13579 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Errr... perhaps... sorry didn't notice that one . In that case I would trim and/ or extend the ends so they join. I have tried to replicate and if you don't close the PL and leave the ends separate then you get the same message as the OP. Quote
ziemerd Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 The lines all connect with each other. I used Endpoint to make sure they for sure connected. When I mouse over it shows up as one line and all connected. Quote
ziemerd Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 I've attached the file. Polyline Fillet Issue.dwg Quote
GE13579 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Below I've replicated the problem- the left hand rectangle is drawn with snaps but not closed, the right hand rectangle is the same PL copied over then PEDITed and CLOSEd. Quote
GE13579 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Yep just looked over your file close the PL and you should be ok.. Quote
ziemerd Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 I did the explode and then fillet then pedit. I chose Close but it put circles where my rounded corners are. So I did it over but this time I chose Join and just hit enter 3 times and it seems to be ok. It hatches fine as well. Thanks for all the help! Dawn Quote
eldon Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I've successfully filletted all the corners of my polyline except the last corner. This corner is where I started and ended the polyline .Can anyone explain what this message means and what I can do to fillet this corner? When you draw the polyline, do not draw the last leg by snapping on the start point. Instead use the c option (close) to finish the last leg. Now all corners will fillet. Quote
ziemerd Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 Thanks for the tip Eldon. I'll remember that for next time. Quote
