cmjay83 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 HI all I'm finding it difficult to find the option so that I can create an angled work plane? Can anyone help? Thanks. Quote
shift1313 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 to create an angled work plane you need a reference plane and a line to rotate about. This line can be on your part, a reference line you created, one of the standar x,y or z axis in the design tree or i believe the edge of an existing plane. Quote
MarkFlayler Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Clarification: Click Line, Axis, or Sketched Line first Then Select a Face or Plane to Angle off of You may have to create an Axis first depending on what you are trying to do. Quote
shift1313 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 mark, you can click the plane first then the rotation axis. Is there a benefit to clicking the axis first? The best I can tell, either order produces the same plane. Just curious. Quote
MarkFlayler Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Well if you are a slow clicker you might get the offset value for an offset workplane before you get the chance to grab the edge or axis. Call it forced best practice just to avoid any possibility of having to start again. Quote
shift1313 Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 it must be my settings then because if single click a work plane im never prompted to offset it unless i click/drag. I just wanted to be sure there wasnt a functional difference:) thanks ive added a screen shot showing the selected work plane, the selected Zaxis and the Angle prompt. Quote
JD Mather Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Well if you are a slow clicker you might get the offset value for an offset workplane before you get the chance to grab the edge or axis. Call it forced best practice just to avoid any possibility of having to start again. I guess I must be a "just right" clicker - I never paid any attention to order of selection. Sometimes things like this are good to notice when teaching beginners who can't seem to get the same results. Quote
MarkFlayler Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 what I meant by slow clicking is if you click and hold on that plane (you don't necessarily have to drag). JD is right I find this a lot more with new users so I wanted to point that out. Taught a guy with bad arthritis that we had to adjust the click speed for. Quote
cmjay83 Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 Thanks for help guys!! Does inventer 2010 have a stress and pressure analyzer like solidworks 2009spo? Cheers Quote
JD Mather Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Does inventer 2010 have a stress and pressure analyzer like solidworks 2009spo? Inventor Professional or Inventor Analysis. See matrix sheet near bottom of page. http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/autodesk_inventor_2010_faq.pdf I just finished going through this book and highly recommend it for Inventor FEA and Dynamic Simulation. http://www.amazon.com/Running-Autodesk-Inventor-Simulation-Step/dp/1856176940/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1247848027&sr=1-1 Keep in mind that Autodesk purchased Algor last year.
