el reisubroc Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Hi all! Im trying to create a circular hole in a not planar surface, but i dont know how to do this. I attach the image. Thank You Quote
stevsmith Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Hello el reisubroc, and welcome to the forums. It looks like the cylinder you have made in not a solid object. What you would need to do is create a circle and then use the extrude command to pass the circle through the surface. This will then turn the cylinder into a solid item. The next command you need to use would be subtract. You will need to follow the instructions on the command line. (you can also hit the F1 key while in the subtract command and a small demo will appear.) Quote
el reisubroc Posted July 20, 2009 Author Posted July 20, 2009 Thanks for answer me!! I try to subtract the 3dface with the cylinder ... but autocad dont let me because it cant select the 3dface. here is the code message: "Command: subtract Select solids, surfaces, and regions to subtract from .. Select objects: 1 found Select objects: Select solids, surfaces, and regions to subtract .. Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 1 found Select objects: No solids, surfaces, or regions selected. Command: '_3DFOrbit Press ESC or ENTER to exit, or right-click to display shortcut-menu. Command: *Cancel*" Thx for your help!! Quote

stevsmith Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Ive just noticed that you said the objects and non-planar. You need to covert the shapes around the cylinder using the convtosurface command. then use the subtract command. Quote

Tankman Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Not a problem my good man. Take it easy. Steve, we can't all open 2010 *.dwg files. It's just nice to view files posted. Just my opinion. For posting, I might suggest saving and posting in earlier formats. I use '07 (desktop), '05 laptops. Save to 2000 for posts or communicating with clients. Quote
