I am having problems printing colours in Autocad LT 2010 to an HP 130 NR large format printer. The colours on screen are a lot darker than the printed colours. Have tried various quality settings on the printer but always get very light colours. Problem only seems to be with the Autocad HP combination, other software seems ok.

Can anyone help, please?

I have noticed that when printing on our large HP plotter dark blue come out as a purple color. However not the case on my Canon printer here at the house. I think it has to do with the HP ink.

I had this problem and it was not the ink but a setting in the plotter properties. In Custom properties, Options tab, Color Control button, set to No color correction.

What plotter model were you using?

Sorry I should have included that. HP1055C, it is an old one but it will have to last.

The plotter I use is the HP Designjet 500 (24 in) Large Format Printer.

You think your advice will work on that?

I would say to try it out and see if those options are available for the 500. It won't cost a thing.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have looked at the various tabs etc under custom properties and the HP 130 doesn't seem to have a no colour correction option. I have tried the colour calibration today and that makes no difference and prior to that tried various quality settings etc. It seems very strange that the colours are so far removed from those displayed in autocad.

See attached, this is where I find it for the HP1050C.

Unfortunately, printing/plotting colors at HP's is a sad story...

Try correcting the printer's colors & brightness direct from the printer's settings.

Control panel>Printers>(Your printer/plotter)>Printing preferences>Color>Advanced color settings.

I did that with an A3 K850 Pro and worked fine, but needs a bit experimenting...
