MothBox Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Whenever I use ariel font in a drawing it looking chunky in both model and paperspace and prints the same. The same is true for most fonts beyond the default font. There is no difference when the line weight is turned on or off. I have read a few of these problems before in some forums but no solutions that seem to work. Is this a common problem and is there a fix? Quote
ReMark Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Arial is a TrueType font is it not? The font looks and prints chunky? I could understand one or the other happening but not both. Are we talking the standard Arial font that comes with an installation of Windows? Quote
MothBox Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 Its the standard arial font. I have only printed to PDF so far and it prints as it looks in AutoCAD. I have noticed that some of the fonts seem ok. But there are no differences in the setup between them. Quote
ReMark Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Possibly a problem with the print driver? What printer are you using? Quote
eldon Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 It might be a good exercise for you to experiment with various fonts and different settings. With AutoCAD fonts, you cannot apply Bold in the text editor, but line weight makes a difference. With True-Type fonts, you can apply Bold in the text editor, and line weight has no effect. Quote
rkent Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 This has been talked about quite a bit and the usual fix is to select the text, go to properties, find the z position, swipe over the value (even if it is zero) and type in 0 (zero). You can filter for all text and then mtext and do this all at once for each entity type. Quote
MothBox Posted July 23, 2009 Author Posted July 23, 2009 I managed to sort the problem with the text in model space just simply by choosing some which didn't have the problem and copying it and doing all of my text again in the new format. However, it still prints fatter than it is shown in model and paper space! Quote

I am printing this to PDF as a test if that helps. I don't have access to a plotter without paying for it so I am reluctant to test print at A1! I will try some at A4 to see what happens but I am not hopefull. Quote
MothBox Posted July 25, 2009 Author Posted July 25, 2009 I have tried all suggested methods and couldn't rectify this problem so I have simply changed all of the fonts to “normal” which seems to print ok. Quote
spittle Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Back to the top - I still have this problem and have not found a solution. Quote
