Chain load calculations...can we do it?

Our company supplies overhead conveyors powered by 3 hp drives pulling a type of log chain.

We have an excel spreadsheet that we enter various equipment loads, chain distances, incline loads, etc. This spreadsheet then tells us where to locate a line drive. The drive location is dependant on the load capability (strength) of the chain.

Now my point...Can Acad Mechanical (or another vertical product) do this calculation for me? I see that roller chain is included in the Mechanical library, but not log chain.

I would be greatful for any suggestions / input on how Acad can help me with these calculations automatically. I'd like to hear from anyone using Autocad to do similar calculations.

Thanks!

Nothing??? Not even any of you LISP geniuses?

any such lisp routine is most likely going to be propriotary information, possibly something you could do yourself however and then come review time ask your companty for a raise ;)

Yes, I think this would probably be very company specific. I would create a lisp myself, if I knew how.

Hmmm, sound like a good topic for another post!

another option is Excel, it handles such calculation well and can be used in connjunction with Excel functions to fill out a spread sheet for you when inputting new variables.
