jwilliams Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I am attempting to convert a 3D solid, created and exported from Revit 2010 (as a ACIS solid) to lines in AutoCAD. I have tried exploding, but the solid becomes a region and the region will not explode. Xedges only gives me the linear segments (no curves). Any thoughts as to why these techniques won't work? 3D Slab 2010 acis solid.dwg Quote
ReMark Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Per AutoDesk: "Autodesk Revit can import and export models to DXF™ and DWG formats." Why was it necessary to export your 3D Revit solid as an ACIS solid to get it into AutoCAD? Just curious. I have no experience with Revit. Quote
jwilliams Posted July 27, 2009 Author Posted July 27, 2009 Well the final destination for this file is survey software that reads in AutoCAD R14 DWGs. What I need to do is take solids out of Revit, and convert the edges or intersections to points and lines with elevation data intact. AutoCAD is the middleman. Quote
ReMark Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Thank you for taking the time to educate me. Much appreciated. Quote
jwilliams Posted July 27, 2009 Author Posted July 27, 2009 Re-reading your post, I realized I didn't fully answer your question. I could have exported out of Revit as a polymesh, an ACIS solid or a ACA object as well. Those are the 3 options when exporting a 3D object out of Revit 2010 to AutoCAD DWG. Quote
