Old Password Protection Problem

I assume yes,

However i have only seen company's offering the servis to unlock vlx (that was what i looked for), but since a vlx is mulitple fas and others surly they would be able to to do it

Yea I found one that "sold" me a program but it didn't work. They refunded my money and offered to unlock the files for me. They said they could do it if I sent them. I was hesitate because the software they advertised didn't work as advertised. If it had I wouldn't have needed to send them the files. Also, even if they could unlock the files they would be getting free code that someone else wrote while I paid them. Didn't like that, so I was happy to get my money back and ignore there offer.

Ryder,

Project manager does not look like it is too difficult to set up (sez the guy who had nothing to do with getting it set up in the first place). There are certainly some hoops to jump through, but I'm willing to help. (With the theory that - you don't really understand anything till you can teach someone else how to do it - in mind.) Is your company supportive of you trying new things and learning on your own - or is it more of a "do it the way we always done it" kind of place?

Glen

(Using AutoCAD since Jan '08 and Electrical since Feb '09)

At this time I am able to do some freelance learning. Part of my job is to be involved in this forum when I can just to learn new things that may benefit the company. I'm sure that when work picks up here the learning benefits I get from being on the forum and learning on my own will become less as the workload increases.

Electrical - there are many things about Electrical that would do what we want such as BOM generation, reports, project manager etc. One problem is lack of training. No one here has received any training. Another is what it will take to 'customize' it to make it work for this company. Catalogs of items (smart/dynamic blocks) using the specialized commands to the benefit of what we do.

Our electrical drawings consist of panelboard layouts (not control panels), Elementary lighting diagrams/circuits, HVAC circuits, MCC and Switchgear interconnects, Hex fan junction boxes, motor space heaters, UPS (uninterrupted power supplies), UPS Bypass Switches, UPS Output Panels, Fire alarm control panels, lighting contactors. What we do is design and manufacture Power Distribution Centers. These are metal buildings that hold all this equipment.

We also do the Architectural/Structural drawings as we build the actual building as well as do the electrical part.

So have I helped you see how OTB Electrical doesn't work for us? There are things that must be done/setup in order for it to be an asset. Also, it is difficult to change the entire way of drafting for our company. They have become so dependent upon this automation that they are resistant to the change. Eventually they will have to change whether they want to or not. Within one or two versions of ACAD (maybe 2011 or 2012) that automation won't work any more. I know that may be long way off to them, but what will they do when the automation fails and the work load has picked up to the point that it costs them 5 times in lost hours to 'fix' the 'problem'?

It's a difficult decision to make when the money is tight and the future uncertain, but the time is right.

I just realized I'm rambling...sorry.

Is there such a thing as fas file unlock software?

Unfortunately, yes. I don't know if it's "available" or not. But I once wrote a routine (specifically for the purpose here..) and sent it to a person who claimed he could unlock it, and I received back autolisp code.
