Hello everyone.

Is there any way to force AutoCAD to remember number of copies i want to plot? I plot one sheet (we plot from model btw.) in 3 copies, then start plot command again, for the next sheet, and the number of copies is back to 1.

All of the other settings are saved except that one.

Or is that "feature, not a glitch"?

Thanks in advance!

Is it something that can be saved with a page layout?

Not sure what you mean... This is what i'm talking about:

Yes, that is what I was refering to. Do you use page setups?

No, but i just tried it. Page setups also don't remember number of copies.

Really? Hmmm......I never noticed that.

You say that you "restart the command again." Is this how you normally operate?

Hm? I issue the command again.

Command: _plot
Specify window for printing
Specify first corner: Specify opposite corner:
Press ESC or ENTER to exit, or right-click to display shortcut menu.
Effective plotting area: 287.30 wide by 210.00 high

Plotting viewport 2.

Do you ever resort to using the "Previous plot" option under Page setup name?

Maybe this is something that could be handled with a script or a batch plotting program?

Yes, but that also restores all of the settings, except number of copies.

Besides, it is useful only for the first sheet. It would be bigger waste of time to select "previous plot" for every print then it is to enter number of copies. Since "save changes to layout" saves everything anyway.

I think it is for safety reason. Imagine you need just one copy and any time you hit print it get you 10 copies - that the waste.

Got that on company copier: if someone forget to cancel # of copy and someone overlook before start next copy job...

As far as I know this is a windows thing; if you check it out then you will find that Word, Excel, Acrobat, etc all default in this way for the number of plots required.

I created a set of autocad toolbar buttons for quick plotting, one for each size of paper we use, so that one click on the button sends the plot.

So if I need more than one copy I just click the button so many times.

The macro in the buttons is just the command line plotting options, unfortunately the input order of these have changed over different autocad versions so if you want to create your own you will have to check the autocad help for the correct sequence of -plot command line inputs for your version.

EDIT

Ok to give you an idea these are the macros that will work with 2000, 2000i, 2002.

(may work with 2004 not sure. WILL NOT work with 2006 or above the command syntax changed).

You will have to copy and paste them into 4 toolbar buttons and change the plotter and ctb file names (in bold) to your plotter and ctb names.

(And possibly the paper sizes if you plotters are not HP plotters).

^C^C-plot;y;;DJ430 A0;Oversize: ISO A0 ;m;l;;e;f;c;y;BNG.ctb;y;;;;;y;y

^C^C-plot;y;;DJ430MECH;Oversize: ISO A1 ;m;l;;e;f;c;y;BNG.ctb;y;;;;;y;y

^C^C-plot;y;;DJ430MECH;Oversize: ISO A2 (landscape);m;l;;e;f;c;y;BNG.ctb;y;;;;;y;y

could you set it in your plotter properties settings?

if your create named page setups you could plot all your dwgs at once and set the number of copies you want and also collate if you need it or not collate if you dont, never tried the named page setups in model space though ill go check and let you know

You could use publish, get all your sheets set up in there with the correct pagesetup, then highlight them all, copy, copy again. Save that setup for later use.
