dixie_boysles Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 im new to the forum, i use autocad everyday at my workplace. currently we are on 2000 and 2002 (we have another program called Diecad which is a german program that uses AutoCad program code and integrates its own code to add on to AutoCad's capabilities; it is specifically for granite fabrication [i work at a granite quarry]). my problem is: sometimes i need to be able to print full size layouts (1:1) of the drawing im working on. Well it doesnt always fit on the preset lengs of paper such and an a sheet of b sheet etc... In autoCad, you can set "Custom Paper Sizes". Well i have XP on my computer and for some reason i CANT set custom paper sizes!!! the boxes i need to do so are grayed out...like this The wierd thing is that another draftsman had windows 2000 when i started here and he had the option of setting custom paper sizes. now he has XP and cant.....! any ideas guys? this would be a BIG help if someone knew what to do. gsksun4 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Are you running the full blown version of AutoCad 2002? I have 2002"LT" on my machine and those same buttons are off. They probably are active with the full version and not the lite. Quote
Cad64 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Your screenshot is showing Architectural Desktop 3.3, not Autocad 2000 or 2002, so what are you actually using? Quote

Sorry, but it is 2002. when you open it up, it says AutoCad 2002, then it changes to Architectural Desktop 3.3. But it is 2002. Quote
f700es Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Mt. Airy!!!!! No way! Welcome to CADTutor I live in Yadkinville BTW OK for your problem, I think it is a permission setting in your XP user account. If the other could do it in W2K but now can't in XP then it might not be in ACAD. I see ScanSoft PDF, is this the PDF printer that you are using? If so I would look at another PDF printer. There are lots of free ones to try. Give CutePDF a try and see if it can do the custom size. Another question why are you printing to a PDF when you are wanting to do a full size paper plot? Welcome aboard neighbor Quote
dixie_boysles Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 i was tryin to print in PDF format so that i could email the client a full size PDF of the drawing. however, i cant change custome paper sizes on any printer, even our plotter. However the other draftsman can. Quote
SPARKY77 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 One way around it might be to set the layout tab to the paper size you want and use a viewport Quote
dixie_boysles Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 One way around it might be to set the layout tab to the paper size you want and use a viewport that would work too, but thats a lot of trouble to do every time Quote
f700es Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Add the page setup to your start up template and you'll only make it once Quote
SPARKY77 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Cann't you create a standard layotu and use it as a template and the just import it into the drawings as a new layout Quote
eldon Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I think your problem has nothing to do with AutoCAD, but to do with the print drivers in the PDF software. Have a go at them. I use CutePDF, and it can plot up to A0. What sort of size are you trying to get? Quote

I use CutePDF, and it can plot up to A0. What sort of size are you trying to get? that may sound right about the print drivers, but everyone HAS to look past where it is showing PDF Create, as i cant create "Custom Page Sizes" on ANY printer, not our big plotter, my dekstop laserjet, PDF create, nor the copier/printer (whcih is understandable for all these except for our big plotter as they only have certain paper sizes.) but i dont know why i cant to our big plotter when W2K can....ill have to look at his drivers i guess..thanks man Quote
chelsea1307 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 "For unavaliable controls see custom properties" I have you checked that. Mine's greyed out too but through there i can add custom sizes to plotters that accept it. Quote
rkent Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Simply pick Custom Properties, it is two above the Custom Paper Sizes, then Custom Properties button, then probably an Advanced tab, finally paper size, for PDFs anyway. For other plotters once you pick Custom Properties, custom properties button, the paper size tab will be shown. Quote
