Danny Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I am currently using autocad 2008 and would like to batch print documents in high quality without using publisher. Publisher works well how ever it has a few steps to it. Anyone know a third party program or any other way to accomplish this. *** The final plotted copy must be of high quality as it will be scanned to pdf than sent to client. *** Also I can't batch directly to pdf as our document control dept has there procedures. StevenMc Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Some links for a Batch DWG plotter and a PDF program that allows you to create multiple PDF’s at once without going through all the drawings individually. Although they are only 30 day trials, they are very useful for large issues! I’ve just used them and are easy to use. http://www.bluebeam.com/web07/us/downloads/cad/ http://download.cnet.com/Batch-Plot-DWG/3000-6677_4-10670340.html Quote

StevenMc Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 sorry Danny i cant help you there. i was looking for permanent ones too but had no luck. if i do come across one i'll give you a shout Quote
chelsea1307 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 those probably can be permanent solutions if you put the money out there for them to be. If its your company that wants a faster solution then publish then they probably will have to shell out some money to get it. If you work for yourself then you will have to decide if those couple extra steps to use publish is worth the cost of the program that is faster Quote
Danny Posted August 20, 2009 Author Posted August 20, 2009 I sent the links to IT we will see if they want to fork over the cash Quote
StevenMc Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Thats what i would say too. in my company we very rarely need programs like these so they wouldnt invest, so the 30 day trial was ok for me as it was just a one off Quote

Just would like to find something and implement it permanently Quote
StevenMc Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Your best bet is probably to shop around and try and find the cheapest option, these things are hard to come by free as you probably know. Quote

bryanrisk Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 most of the people recommend to use Autocad Lite Quote
ReMark Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 bryan: The question is about batch printing a number of drawings to PDF format. By the way, it is properly referred to as AutoCAD LT and not AutoCAD Lite. Quote
stevsmith Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 try scriptpro from the autodesk website. It runs as a standalone product where you add drawing files and set up a script to run in the background. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=4091678&linkID=9240618 Quote
stevsmith Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 i will need to get back to you about the script. at work just now. are you printing from paperspace or modelspace? Quote
kevinp Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 I use publish, but not from the publish dialog box. I add all my sheets to a sheet set and then use global page setups and plot all of my drawings that way. So for instance I have 30 drawings in my sheet set, all arch d size. I select all, right click, and pick publish->publish using page setup override-> arch d. Sends all sheets right to my plotter with ease. I do this because I hate using file->publish. This way is much faster and I like having my drawings numbered and named in my sheet set so I know exactly what drawing Im opening, not just SMA-T205A.dwg Quote

Looking for something quicker and more user friendly. It's not just the designers who use it it is also the design dept Secretaries who need to use it. Its a large company so proper batch printing would be nice. Also like to clarify I only need to batch to paper at a high enough quality to be scanned to . pdf. To keep in compliance with ISO procedures our document control has to have plotted documents check them into the system than scan to PDF to be transmitted to client or vendor Quote
