Is there a decent software package for converting 3d drawings within autocad to g code for use on a cnc machine? Thanx

MasterCAM can Import DXF files from ACAD.

I used it for several years when I was programming machines. IMO it's the best in the business, but it's also the most expensive.

I got some free conversion software over at CADALOG years ago.

You first ahd to do the offsets etc. in Autocad, the make up one tempo file JUST for the lines. Then go to the freebie, let it run and it created G-code then. Had to watch out for line direction though.

Used it on an elderly CNC mill that got for free one time. Zero tracing problems, but the order of cut got reversed once.

Think you now have to look into their Autocad archives, for simple conversion tools.
